Welcome to Eindhoven: a city with a number of 225.000 inhabitants, which is still growing fast.
By now, you probably bought your first bike or rented one from one of the many bike-rentals in Eindhoven. ( rent a bike here: bimbimbikes )
But where to go to? And even more important, how to get where you want to go?
Well, let’s be honest: Eindhoven is not the most beautiful city in the world, at least not by daylight. But this city has more to offer than you’ll probably think. Let me widen your view of the city of Eindhoven and its surrounding towns, so that you’ll see more of the area than only the common touristic places, like the Van Abbemuseum and the Evoluon.. My goal is to show you the beautiful little towns and villages that surround Eindhoven, and I will offer you new tours every two weeks.
My personal favorite spot in the area of Eindhoven is the Strabrechtse Heide: a heathy natural area of 1500 hectares which is situated in the towns of Heeze-Leende, Someren and Geldrop-Mierlo. But there is much more to see, like castles, rivers, forests and little villages like Oirschot with an ancient historical townhall which was built in 1513! Or the flourmill and bakery in Oerle, which is famous for its delicious regional products. Most of these locations can be reached by bike within an hour from the center of Eindhoven. An hour of cycling you say?? Don’t worry: all roads are flat in the Netherlands. We aren’t called the Flatland for nothing….
